There are many things to consider when you’re new to life with a catheter. This ranges from how to change your leg bag, to keeping your catheter clean and learning how to secure it in place. An important consideration is how you’ll care for your catheter bag overnight!
Catheter night bag instructions
It’s important you follow the catheter night bag instructions provided with your 2L bag. Each box of Ugo 2L Drainage Bags comes with a useful user guide, which many people tell us comes in handy between nurse visits. This contains instructions on how to safely attach, support and remove your overnight bag.
It doesn’t just stop with our 2L bags though. In fact, each product in our Ugo Urology range has its own helpful user guide. As well as providing these in each product box, our user guides are also downloadable from the ‘Support’ page on the Shop Optimum website.
Whether you’re using a continuous drainage bag, or setting up a link drainage connection (where the stepped connector of the 2L bag fits directly into the catheter bag outlet tubing), the next thing to consider is how you’ll support your 2L bag as it fills overnight. By properly supporting your overnight bag, you can reduce your risk of infection by ensuring the tap doesn’t touch the ground, and also sleep soundly knowing there's less chance of pulling against your catheter.
Ugo Stand with Dignity
We developed the Ugo Stand with Dignity with total discretion in mind. It features a removable dignity cover, so the choice is yours whether you want to have your 2L bag visible or not. When you use the Ugo Stand with Dignity, you completely minimise the chances of your catheter bag tap touching floor. When this happens (as we’re sure you can imagine), the chances of developing an infection increase, as the tap becomes contaminated with any bacteria on the floor. Not good! In terms of keeping the stand itself clean, this is easy to do. It’s made of plastic, so can be quickly and easily wiped down and kept clean and hygienic.
For complete convenience, our catheter night bag stand can be used freestanding. It also features a useful hook, so it can be attached to the side of a wheelchair for individuals using continuous drainage bags.
All new things take a bit of getting used to, but we feel confident that like so many other Shop Optimum customers, you’ll come to really rely on your Ugo Stand with Dignity for keeping your drainage bag well-supported. Our catheter night bag stand has been cleverly designed to let you know when it's time to be replaced. Over time, signs of wear will become apparent and this indicates the optimum time when your stand needs replacing.
To give people a choice, we also provide our Ugo Hanger. Small but mighty, the Ugo Hanger can support the weight of your filling 2L bag throughout the whole night. We’ve created a groove on the Ugo Hanger which helps to secure your catheter bag tubing in place perfectly whilst you rest. Made from the same material as the Ugo Stand with Dignity, it’s really easy to clean and take care of, too.
